Stoves and their hoods (propane)
Installation standards for clearance between the stove and combustible material are:
- Between the area above the stove and the combustible material: 76.20 cm or 30 inches.
- Between the kitchen and the lateral combustible wall: 15.24 cm or 6 inches
Considering that 30 inches is required between the base of the cupboard and the top of the stove, the good should be installed under the cupboards.
There are no standards according to the Régie du Bâtiment code regarding ventilation hoods, so you must comply with the required by the installation manual. However, installation manuals may include recommendations that should take precedence over Régie du Bâtiment codes.

Pool heaters
According to section 4.12.3 of the Régie du Bâtiment code, pool heaters must have minimum clearance in relation to all combustible material:
a) Vertical: 18” (450 mm)
b) Sides and back: 18” (450 mm) and
b) Front: 48” (1200mm)
Pool heaters must be installed conforming to section 8.4.10 of the Régie du Bâtiment code, which stipulates that propane gas evacuation openings must be placed at least 10 feet (3 metres) from any building entrances.
Pool heaters must be installed at least 5 feet (1.52 metres) of the inner wall of the pool and be isolated from the pool by a fence, wall or other permanent barrier.
