The story of Gaz Propane Rainville inc. began in the 1960s when Gérard Rainville was the owner of a small restaurant in Granby. To save money, he decided to acquire his propane gas from outside of his community. In order to help other local businesspeople cut costs too, he and his wife Edna founded Gaz Propane Rainville in 1966.
When his kids grew up, three of them, André, François and Richard, took interest in the business. Over the years, the company has grown slowly. During the ice storm of 1998, residential propane gas use rose dramatically. Located in the heart of the region affected by the ice storm, Gaz Propane Rainville inc. was ready to welcome these new clients.
From our modest beginnings, we now have more than 90 employees who work as deliverers, installers, service technicians and office workers. The Gaz Propane Rainville inc. familycontinues to grow; the company is now a major stakeholder in Quebec. Our clients represent a diverse range of fields, including agriculture, business, industry, food services, construction and homes. We have made propane available to every field of the economy.
Over the years, Gaz Propane Rainville inc. has acquired four companies: one in Saint-Jérôme that was purchased in 2001; another in Sherbrooke was taken over in 2005; a third, in Trois-Rivières, was acquired in 2010 and the most recent addition is a location in Shediac, New Brunswick in 2010. Given our current momentum, this expansion is set to continue.
